STERLING — Another match, another tough loss for McPherson College’s volleyball team.
The Bulldogs seemingly can’t buy a break as they took Sterling to the limit on Wednesday, only to lose in the fifth-and-deciding set.
The Bulldogs showed a lot of grit as they overcame a 2-0 deficit as the Warriors won 25-14, 28-26 at the outset.
Mac stormed back for 26-24 and 25-15 successes, but Sterling regrouped for a 15-11 final-set victory.
Taryn Lee led Mac in kills with 14, while Rhianna Smith (18) and Maci Schlehuber (16) were assist leaders. Schlehuber also led in digs with 19, while usual leader Emily Warner added 15.
The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 1-14 in the KCAC and 6-21 overall, while Sterling escaped to level its KCAC record at 7-7 and is 16-10 overall.
The Bulldogs are home Friday to host Tabor in the annual Senior Night match.
