McPherson High’s JV football team drove to the Buhler 10-yard line on the final series of Monday’s game at McPherson Stadium, but an interception ended the threat as the Crusaders held on for a 7-0 victory in a battle of strong-willed defenses.
Buhler’s score came in the second quarter on a 24-yard pass from Ben Epp to Tanner Lackey.
With 2:24 to go in the game, the Bullpups took possession at their own 24 and started to move the ball down the field behind the passing combination of Gunnar Reiss to Caleb Spaich, with another key reception by Ben Nikkel. MHS had the ball first-and-goal from the 10, but a spike and incompletion were the forerunners to an interception.
Nevertheless, the Bullpups finished another quality JV season with a 6-2 record.
