There’s more than one Fall Classic coming up.
In addition to the World Series pitting the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets that begins tonight, Central Christian College’s baseball team will be conducting its own “Black and Blue Fall Classic,” which begins Nov. 2 at Tiger Stadium, formerly known as Light Capital Diamond.
It is a best-of-7 intra-squad series. Teams for the scrimmage will be selected via a player draft, and will be managed by assistant coaches Thomas Kellner and Jon Herbig.
• Game 1 — Monday, Nov. 2, 7 p.m.
• Game 2 — Thursday, Nov. 5, 7 p.m.
• Game 3 — Saturday, Nov. 7, 2:30 p.m.
• Game 4 — Tuesday, Nov. 10, 7 p.m.
• Game 5 — Thursday, Nov. 12, 3 p.m. ( if necessary)
• Game 6 — Friday, Nov. 13, 7 p.m. (if necessary)
• Game 7 — Saturday, Nov. 14, 2:30 pm (if necessary)
There is no admission charged, but the Tigers are asking for freewill donations at the gate, with all proceeds going to support Mt. Hope Sanctuary in McPherson. There will be a concessions stand where the Tigers will be selling snacks and drinks as well as some CCC baseball gear. Proceeds from all concessions stand sales will also go to help support Mt. Hope Sanctuary.
Second-year CCC coach Derk Kramer hopes that this will be an opportunity for his team to make a positive impact in the McPherson community.
Mt. Hope Sanctuary, Inc. is a non-profit, Christian ministry providing transitional housing, life-changing programs and support services to single women and their children.
