For the second time in less than a week, Central Christian College’s volleyball team couldn’t solve the puzzle that is the York Panthers.

CCC, which lost in four sets to York last Friday in Nebraska, again lost in four on Tuesday at Alexander Arena. Central, which lost the first two sets, won the third 25-18 and had a great chance to even the match, only to lose in extras, 26-28.

“Tonight was a much better performance for our team than when we faced them Friday," CCC coach Christina Ludwick said. "I thought we improved in all aspects of the game. Unfortunately we made some ill-timed, poor choices that led to our overall loss. The temptation is to look at Game 4 and what we could've done to force Game 5, but we lost the match in Set 2. We were up 19-12 and for some reason decided to hit cruise control and let York back in. York is well coached and a talented team. You give them any breathing room and they will take it, which they did tonight. We're still looking to put together a solid, overall performance that's competitive with girls that refuse to lose. We're close, but I don't think we're quite there yet."

Haley Bannister was tremendous in defeat with 24 kills, while Hannah Crandall was everywhere as she hustled to 46 assists. Ciara Costello led in digs with 29.

Central, 16-8 at one point in the season, has hit the skids with four straight losses. It plays this weekend on the Johnson and Wales Tournament in Denver.
