New electrical service starts for the Board of Public Utilities are up significantly over past years.
“In 2013, we put in 60 new electric services,” BPU General Manager Tim Maier said. “2014, 61. And 2015, so far this year we've put in 105. Could be on pace to about double what we've been in past years, so that's a really good sign.”
However, new water starts haven't had quite the rise as the electrical starts.
“Not the same increase,” Maier said. “But still proabably close to 50 percent above what we've been doing in the past and we still have a couple of months to go.”
In 2015, they have had 43 new water service starts. By comparison, they had 36 in 2013 and 29 in 2014.
