An Oklahoma couple is injured in an accident on the Kansas Turnpike Thursday that also involved a Galva man.

According to Kansas Highway Patrol report, 50-year-old Steven Ashpole of Galva was southbound just before 2:30 p.m. on Interstate Highway 35 near milepost 124 in a 2007 Freightliner when he performed an illegal U-turn through the concrete barrier wall.

A 2006 Mercedes S43 driven by 87-year-old Charles Crist of Guthrie, Oklahoma, was northbound on I-35 and ran underneath Ashpole's trailer. Both Crist and a passenger, 81-year-old Delores Cirst, were transported to an unnamed hospital with unspecified injuries. Ashpole was not injured in the accident.

All three were wearing seatbelts.
