SALINA — McPherson High’s volleyball team looked every bit the No. 1 seed this afternoon as it completed a 3-0 day in the Class 4A Division I State Tournament with a 25-12, 25-23 victory over Tonganoxie.

MHS earlier had defeated Wellington and Andale in straight sets.

The Bullpups thus play Louisburg, the No. 2 finisher of the other pool, at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bicentennial Center. Defending champion Miege, which is the No. 1-ranked team by the Kansas Volleyball Association, takes on Tonganoxie in the other semifinal.

The championship and third-place matches follow shortly after the semifinals. By going 3-0, the Bullpups are now 37-7 on the year. Louisburg is 30-11.

MHS and Louisburg met in last year’s third-place match, with the Bullpups prevailing in a close match.
