Hesston spikers take 3rd at state

EMPORIA — The Hesston Swathers carted home the third-place plaque from the Class 3A State Volleyball Tournament on Saturday at White Auditorium.

After losing to eventual champion Garden Plain in the semifinals (22-25, 19-25), the Swathers bounced back to win in two tough sets against Beloit (25-23, 25-22).

The Swathers had finished pool play with a 2-1 record, with wins over Wellsville and Sterling. The loss to eventual runner-up Silver Lake.

Hesston finished the season with a 32-12 record. The Swathers’ Kailey Jo Ince and Cami Richardson were selected to the All-Tournament Team. Richardson was repeat selection.
