The Bulldogs opened their season Saturday with an 81-73 road victory over Haskell as an 18-4 run to start the second half pushed their lead to as many as 17 before the Indians made a late run to close the gap.
“We had a good stretch for first 9 minutes of second half,” Mac coach Tim Swartzendruber said. “We seemed to have a lot of first-game jitters early.”
Chris Crook led four Bulldogs in double figures with 19 points, while 6-8 Reed Rowell pulled down 11 rebounds.
Manhattan Christian will provide a good challenge tonight as it’s always disciplined and efficient.
“Manhattan Christian is always well coached and will execute well,” Swartzendruber said. “They aren't overly athletic, but won't beat themselves. We are excited about playing a home game. Our goal is to keep improving. With the new players, I believe we have a lot of room to improve. Reducing turnovers and offensive rebounds are two areas I hope to see better tonight.”
