RUSSELL COUNTY -- A pair of McPherson residents were hospitalized Sunday after an accident in Russell County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2008 Dodge Ram truck driven by David Schoen, 20, of Sylvan Grove, was eastbound on Kansas Highway 18 in Lucas when, to avoid a rear-end collision with another vehicle, he swerved into the westbound lane. Schoen's truck was then struck on the passenger side by a 2013 Toyota Prius driven by Kerry Lindh, 64, of McPherson.

Lindh and a passenger, Mary Lindh, 57, were both transported to Ellsworth County Medical Center with unspecified injuries. Schoen was not injured.

All three were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
