Water rates in Lindsborg are going up 50 cents in 2016 following action taken by the city council during their October meeting.

Starting Jan. 1st, the base charge for water will be $12 for up to 2,000 gallons of water metered per month. If you go over that, it will cost you an additional .003 cents per gallon.

If you live outside the city limits of Lindsborg, the $25 surcharge of all minimum and user charges will remain unchanged.

The city council also voted to bump up the wholesale water rate to McPherson County Rural Water District Number 6 by 9.1 percent, which is in increase of 10 cents to $1.20 per 1,000 gallons, which would go into effect with this month's consumption and will be due with the January 2016 utility bill.

The last such increases in the water rates for the City of Lindsborg and the rural water district wholesale last went into effect in Jan. of 2014.
