It took four sets here Tuesday, but Central Christian College’s volleyball team reached the regular-season finish line with a .500 record after defeating former MCAC rival Haskell at Alexander Arena.

Central won 25-20, 20-25, 25-10, 25-20 to close the regular season with a 17-17 record. The Lady Tigers had been 16-10 before losing seven matches in a row.

Haley Bannister, as she has all year, led the Lady Tigers with 14 kills, while Hannah Crandall hustled to 33 assists. Ciara Costello celebrated Senior Night with 26 digs.

“You could tell everyone was a little amped after we honored the seniors,” CCC coach Christina Ludwick said. “We made eight hitting errors in the first set and allowed Haskell life. By the third we were finally settling into our rhythm and finished strong. Haskell's record is no indication of the scrappy, gutsy team that they are. They gave us a battle and since we had been struggling the past few weeks, we knew no win would come easy. Our offense was off, but with a little time to refocus and right the ship we'll be in perfect position to make a run in the NCCAA regionals.”

CCC goes to Bartlesville, Okla., Nov. 19-21 for the regional. A bracket will be announced later.
