BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Former McPherson College head football coach Brian Ward was on ESPN 2 Wednesday night as Bowling Green routed Ohio University 62-24 to improve to 7-2 on the year, 5-0 in conference play as it’s a member of the MAC’s East Division.

Ward, who led the Bulldogs to their first-ever NAIA national playoff appearance in 2009, is in his first year as Bowling Green’s defensive coordinator. The Falcons are bowl-eligible.

The Falcons’ only two losses have come to Tennessee of the SEC and Memphis, a bowl team last year. Their most notable wins are against Big 10 schools Maryland and Purdue. They have won their last six games.

Ward was a standout player at McPherson College, graduating in 1997, before returning to his alma mater as head coach in 2007. After leaving Mac in 2009, he coached one year at North Dakota State, then served three years as defensive coordinator at Western Illinois University, where in 2013 the team ranked seventh in the country in total defense.
