LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s football team makes its final road trip of the year on Saturday and it will be its most difficult of the season.
Fresh off their second win of the year, a surprisingly lopsided 38-14 rout of disappointing Friends, the Swedes head to Hillsboro to take on 10th-ranked Tabor.
The Bluejays can wrap up a share of the conference title in the 1:30 p.m. game. They are 7-0 in the KCAC and 8-1 overall. They hold a one-game lead over Kansas Wesleyan in the conference race, thanks to an earlier 14-7 victory over the Coyotes.
Bethany played by far its best game of the season against Friends, with quarterback Bo Savage throwing four touchdowns compared to no interceptions. The Swedes’ defense and special teams were were spot-on, as they improved to 2-5 in the KCAC, 2-7 overall.
Tabor is coming off a 62-0 rout of McPherson College, a game its starters mostly sat in the second half after building up a 41-0 lead.
Bethany and McPherson College meet next week in Lindsborg to wrap up the season.
