Central Christian College’s men’s basketball team, coming off an emotional 87-82 victory over KCAC member Friends in its season opener on Wednesday, goes up against another member of that conference tonight when it hosts Kansas Wesleyan.
Game time at Alexander Arena is tentatively scheduled for 7:30 p.m. A women’s game between the schools is scheduled for 5:30.
The CCC men rode 27 points by Michael Gholstson and 21 by Alonzo Stafford to win their season opener against a Friends team that returned four starters from last year’s NAIA National Tournament Team. Stafford also threw down a half-dozen dunks as he was simply electric.
Kansas Wesleyan is 0-1, having lost to Baker 70-69 in its opener on Wednesday.
In the women’s game, the short-handed Lady Tigers — who are without some players who are still competing in soccer — host a Coyotes team that received votes in the NAIA national poll.
Central is 0-1, having lost on the road 78-60 to Southwestern Christian on Monday. The Coyotes, meanwhile, have been busy as this will be their fourth game. They lost their opener to Hastings, but came back with an upset of No. 8-ranked College of the Ozarks and followed that up by routing a good Park University team.
After tonight’s games, both Central teams gear up for games across town on Wednesday at intracity rival McPherson College.
