COLUMBIA, Mo. — McPherson College’s women’s basketball team is now 0-4 after Saturday’s 65-57 loss to William Woods University of Missouri in the Cost Cutters Classic.

But Bulldog coach Gordon Reimer would probably put his strength of schedule up against any team in the KCAC.

Both losses this weekend came against NAIA Division I schools. The others have been against 2015 NCCAA national qualifier Hillsdale and Haskell, which has a chance to be ranked in the NAIA poll when it’s released.

Mac played on even terms in the first quarter, 15-15, but trailed 32-26 at the half. The Bulldogs whittled two points off that lead heading into the final quarter, but gave up 21 final-period points.

Bailey Brown led Mac with 11 points, while Ashton Bruner came up with her third double-double in four games with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Georgia Smart just missed double figures with nine points.

A plus was that Mac turned it over only 11 times, by far its best effort of the year. Bruner had five assists to lead the way, while Reagan McClellan, in her first start, had four.

Mac is home on Wednesday to take on intracity rival Central Christian College at 6 p.m.

Mac (57) — Brown 11, Bruner 10, G. Smart 9, McClellan 6, Acklin 8, Allen 6, S. Smart 5, Racette 2.

Williams Woods (65) — Lateju 17, Gebke 12, Volkart 8, Wells 5, Webb 3, Schereder 14, Vernatti 4, Schmidt 2.
