McPherson High’s boys soccer team didn’t make state this season, but it can say its four losses during a 14-4 season came only against top-notch competition.
Two of the losses came to eventual state champions, as Salina South won the Class 5A title on Saturday by defeating perennial power St. Thomas Aquinas, while Rose Hill defeated De Soto for the 4-1A crown.
MHS’ other losses were to Dodge City (third in Class 6A) and Trinity Academy (third in Class 4-1A).
Rose Hill closed its season with a 20-0-1 record and Salina South finished with a 19-2 mark, one of the losses coming to the Bullpups as the team split their two games this season. Dodge City was 19-2 and Trinity Academy was 14-5.
The combined record of the teams MHS lost to was 72-9-1.
