McPherson High freshman Jarrod Nowak received a high individual honor on Sunday from the Kansas District Tennis Association during its awards day.

Nowak, who is expected to make a huge contribution to McPherson High’s defending state championship team in the spring, was named the boys Under-14 sportsmanship winner.

He is a member of the Mac Advantage, which under the tutelage of Janie Bremyer was named as having the top Under-10 program in the district. There were a whopping 43 participants in the McPherson U-10 program alone this past summer.

Also, McPherson High tennis coach Tyler Brown was recognized as district Coach of the Year. This award goes to a high school coach who not only has successful teams, but also gives back during the offseason to promote tennis and provide instruction.
