MHS spikers dominate league honors

McPherson High’s volleyball team dominated the AVCTL Division III postseason honors today, including Player of the Year, Megan Pedersen, and Coach of the Year, Christy Doile.

Pedersen, who is signing Wednesday with Washburn, was joined on the first team by teammate Magan Alexander, who also is signing her letter of intent on Wednesday with Fort Hays State.

Others on the first team were Faith Hallmark of Augusta, Traeleas Jackson of Buhler, Caedyn Reinhardt of El Dorado, and Brogan Collins and Gracie Van Driel of Rose Hill.

Doile was named Coach of the Year after MHS ran the league table with a 10-0 record and the Bullpups went on to finish 38-8, taking second in the Class 4A Division I State Tournament at Salina.

McPherson’s Rachel Dossett and Mandi Cooks were named to the second team. Others were Lynsey Horne of Buhler, Kalyn Beal and Destiny Smith of El Dorado, Sophia Dalziel of Augusta and Emily Witt of Rose Hill.

MHS also had a pair of honorable mention selections, Addie Simon and Katyln Ruth. 

They were joined by Riley Zerr of Augusta, Mallory Stucky and Chloe Reiss of Buhler, Sydney Scanlon of El Dorado, Anna Van Driel, Bri Anschutz and Jadan Heinz of Rose Hill, and McKenna Price and Taylor Byerley of Winfield.
