4 Bullpups make soccer first team

McPherson High’s boys soccer team placed four players on the AVCTL Division III-IV first team as postseason league honors were announced today.

Bullpups making the elite team were forward Andric McGill, midfielder Patrick Munsey, and defenders Darrius Armstrong and Devin Cape. McGill and Munsey are juniors, while Armstrong and Cape are sophomores.

Class 4-1A state champion Rose Hill dominated the top honors, with Chance Beckham the Player of the Year and Jerry Treat the Coach of the Year.

MHS’ Jeremy Krehbiel made the second team as a midfielder. Honorable mention picks were forward Jose Arriola, midfielder Kento Aizawa, defender Jamison Stout and goalie Sam Minnick.

Here is the first team:

• Forwards — Andric McGill, McPherson; Christian Smith, Winfield; Parker Austin, Rose Hill; Chance Beckham, Rose Hill.

• Midfielders — Patrick Munsey, McPherson; Brandon Denoncourt, Augusta; Chance Beckham, Rose Hill; Josh Treat, Rose Hill.

• Defenders — Darrius Armstrong, McPherson; Devin Cape, McPherson; Parker Smith, Rose Hill, Rueben Bowling, Winfield.

• Goalie — Dylan Reese, Winfield.
