TOPEKA — There won’t be another trip to the national tournament for the McPherson College men’s soccer team.

The Bulldogs, last year’s KCAC regular-season and postseason champion, were edged 1-0 by Friends on Thursday in the semifinals of the KCAC Postseason Tournament. Mac had won its previous five games before the tough loss, which was decided by a lone Falcon goal 23 minutes into the game.

Mac’s Aaron Parrott had a good game in goal with five saves. The Bulldogs simply couldn’t break through against the Falcons despite firing off 15 shots.

Mac, which had won five games in a row, finished with an 11-9 record. The Bulldogs return nearly their entire team next year.

Friends goes on to meet KCAC regular-season champion Oklahoma Wesleyan in Saturday’s finals.

• Oklahoma Wesleyan women 3, Bethany 2 — The Swedes’ season also ended with a tough loss to the 19th-ranked Eagles.

With the game tied at 1-1, the Eagles’ Kaka Delahaye scored two goals in a 10-minute span to open up a big lead. Sarah Henderson scored for the Swedes late, but it wasn’t enough.

Jeana-Brinae Russell had scored the other Bethany goal, which had tied the game at 1-all.

Bethany finished the year 10-7-3.

Oklahoma Wesleyan meets Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday for the championship.
