NORTH NEWTON — It appears KCAC newcomer York College, which is not eligible for actual conference play until next season, is going to be a team to be reckoned with.
On Saturday in the second day of the Bethel Classic, the Panthers scorched McPherson College’s men 103-81, as the Bulldogs fell to 2-3 after opening with back-to-back impressive wins.
It was the same old story for the Bulldogs — they were crushed on the glass. The athletic Panthers outrebounded Mac 55-36 and until the Bulldogs can get that problem corrected, it’s going to be a struggle.
Dee Roberts scored 26 points to lead the Bulldogs, while Chris Crook scored 14 and Ramon Martinez added 10. Reed Rowell pulled down eight rebounds.
It was the Bulldogs’ final tuneup before the start of conference play on Thursday as they travel to Southwestern, which has broken the century mark several times already this year and is led by Cameron Clark, who recently posted a 42-point game.
