AMES, Iowa — McPherson High graduate Tim Prescott, the defending NCAA Division II national wrestling champion at 125 pounds, took second place in the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open hosted Sunday by NCAA Division I national power Iowa State.

Prescott, a senior at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, won his first three matches before losing by a fall in the finals to Minnesota University’s Ethan Lizak.

Two of Prescott’s teammates, 165-pounder Clint Poster and heavyweight Austin Goergen, won championships.

No team scores were kept, but many NCAA Division I powers were on hand. St. Cloud State is the defending NCAA Division II champion.
