A storm siren sounded in Galva overnight Monday as thunderstorms rolled through McPherson County, though the National Weather Service is reporting that no severe warnings were issued.

McPherson County Emergency Management Director Darren Fraizer said the theory at the moment is that a lightning strike or similar electrical surge caused the siren to trigger.

Frazier added county and Galva city staff are still working to determine the exact cause of the malfunction.
