McPherson College’s basketball teams will make their second road trip in three days on Saturday.
The Mac teams head to North Newton to take on Bethel College. The women start at 5 p.m. and the men at 7, with both games carried on 96.7 KBBE-FM with Chris Swick on the call.
The Mac women were one of the five winners on the first night of KCAC play when Ashton Bruner scored with 0.4 seconds left for a 59-58 upset of Southwestern. The Bulldogs are 2-5 overall. Bethel lost on opening night to Oklahoma Wesleyan 97-83 despite a 28-point performance by guard Lauren Ulrich.
The Mac men, 2-4 overall, started KCAC play with a 96-84 loss to Southwestern despite the fact four players scored in double figures, led by Dee Roberts with 18 points. Bethel was defeated 98-81 by Oklahoma Wesleyan on Thursday and is still looking for its first win as it’s 0-7. McPherson High grad Cody Cape scored seven points in the defeat for the Threshers.
