McPherson County Commissioners gave their OK to a request by the City of Moundridge to annex a portion of county land into the city near their industrial park.
The piece of property in question is the site of the home explosion back in September that leveled the house that had been on the property.
Moundridge City Administrator Randy Frazer said the property is about 3 acres and is adjacent to the industrial park between Hoch Street and Old U.S. Highway 81.
“The industrial park, itself, is kind of an island off of the city,” Frazer said. “So, [the Hoch Street property] would be kind of attaching to that.”
Frazer added there has been no public input against the annexation.
“We're very much in favor it,” Frazer said. “A business there in the industrial park wants to expand. We have the utilities to the area and we are working with Westar [Energy] to take over the electrical utilities to the area.”
The request was approved unanimously by the county commission.
