The Central Christian College women’s soccer team has lived to play another day.
The Lady Tigers were chosen on Sunday as one of the two at-large teams for the NCCAA National Tournament, which gets under way on Nov. 30 in Kissimmee, Fla.
They will be involved in pool play at the outset. They open at 1 p.m. against No. 4 Trinity Christian College. On Tuesday, Dec. 1, they play No. 1 Mississippi College at 10:30 a.m., with their last game on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. against No. 8 Trinity Lutheran.
Houghton College is the top seed (No. 2 overall) on the other side of the bracket. Other teams are No. 3 Mid-America Christian, No. 6 Warner University and No. 7 Columbia International.
Central, 17-5, is the No. 5 seed and perhaps its regional upset of highly touted Oklahoma Wesleyan was the deciding factor in it qualifying.
The top finisher from each pool plays for the national championship.
The Lady Tigers last made nationals in 2000, which was their second straight appearance as they also competed in 1999 — both times under the guidance of coach Mike Reimer.
