McPherson College’s men are scheduled to play today and Saturday in the Bellevue (Neb.) Basketball Classic.
The Bulldogs are matched against York College today at 5:00, with Saturday’s game against College of the Ozarks at 3:00. Neither game will be aired on KBBE.
The Bulldogs are 3-5 on the season, one of those losses coming against tonight’s opponent. Mac and York played in the recent Bethel Classic, with the Panthers shooting lights out in a 103-81 victory.
The Panthers, who will be joining the KCAC next season, are 4-4 on the year. Ironically, they are 3-0 against their future conference brethren with wins over Mac, Bethel and Friends.
College of the Ozarks will be a handful. The Bobcats, a longtime player on the national scene as they serve as the national tournament host, are 5-1 and the only team to have defeated KCAC member Southwestern. Their only loss is to national power William Penn University, that coming in a wild 106-101 shootout.
Mac is expected to be missing 6-8 center Reed Rowell, who suffered a sprained ankle in Tuesday’s loss to Ottawa. Rowell had pulled down 27 rebounds the last two games and his absence makes the Bulldogs very small.
After this weekend, the Bulldogs are off until Thursday when they return to KCAC action at Kansas Wesleyan.
