LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Another tremendous game by Jonathan Gidson could not prevent Bethany College’s men from dropping an 88-85 decision to Colorado Christian on Saturday.
Gidson, who had 33 points and 11 rebounds on Friday in the Swedes’ overtime win over Central Christian College, was again outstanding with 23 points and 12 rebounds. But it wasn’t enough as the Swedes in what is an exhibition game since Coloraod Christian is NCAA Division II.
Gary Jones added 15 points for Bethany, Larry McLin scored 14 and Aaron Cooley added 11 off the bench. The Swedes lost despite shooting 51 percent from the field, but gave the game away at the foul line by making just 22 of 35.
The Swedes have a crucial game on Thursday when they host Tabor. Bethany is 0-2 in the KCAC and Tabor is 3-0 and Bethany needs a win to stay within shouting distance as it can’t afford to fall three games back after being picked to finish in the Top 3 in the preseason polls.
