The City of McPherson, McPherson County Emergency Management and the McPherson Ministerial Alliance are working together to help expedite debris cleanup efforts from the ice storm this past weekend.

It was announced just before noon that they will help cut and stack limbs, with a particular focus on clearing driveways, sidewalks and limbs that are limiting access for elderly, disabled or individuals that are physically unable to move or cut up limbs.

McPherson County Emergency Management stresses this is a cut-and-stack operation only, and is not meant to be a full yard clean-up. They will only be assisting with limbs that are on the ground and will not be cutting anything above the ground or hanging on lines.

You will be required to sign a liability release before any work can begin, and you will need to specify where on your property you would like the cut limbs and branches stacked.

Emergency management will be manning a phone bank starting at 1 p.m. today and then from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, with the clean up slated to begin on Friday and continue through Sunday as needed. The numbers to call to request assistance are (620) 504-5791, (620) 504-5792, (620) 504-5794 and (620) 504-5795.
