McPherson’s eighth-grade girls made their home basketball debut here Thursday in rousing fashion.
Andrea Sweat scored 13 points to lead the way in the A-game as the Bullpups rolled to a 39-17 victory over Maize South. Josie Strathman just missed double figures with nine.
“Another hard-fought win, once again our effort was good,” MMS coach Jay Crawford said. “We continue to see areas that we need to work on, but we see spurts of how well we can play. The girls moved the ball well at times and with our size on defense we were able to cause some problems. It was very physical... neither the A- or B-team girls backed down, which I was very proud of. We competed well.”
Payton Johnson’s eight points led the B-team to a 28-13 victory.
Both Bullpup teams are now 2-0. MMS goes to Goddard Eisenhower on Monday.
