INMAN — Inman’s boys waited too long to get going.

The Teutons opened their basketball season on Friday losing a 45-38 decision to Goessel, due in part to scoring just nine points in the first half to trail by 11.

“Shot it abysmal in the first half,” Inman coach Brett Froese said. “We just couldn’t throw it in the ocean. We had nice looks, just couldn’t convert them. Pretty disappointing.”

The youthful Teutons were led by freshman Payton Froese with 14 points and Keaton Case scored 10.

• GOESSEL GIRLS 51, INMAN 17 — A slow start also doomed the Teuton girls.

Inman managed only one point in the first 8 minutes to trail 16-1. It was 35-7 at the half.

No Teuton scored more than four points.
