McPherson’s seventh-grade boys overcame a 19-17 halftime deficit here Monday to outlast Goddard Eisenhower, 30-23.
The Bullpups have won their last two games after an opening-day loss.
Max Alexander led the way with 12 points, while Jayton Alexander tossed in seven.
“After a slow start, we really settled down and played within ourselves,” MMS coach Tim Hein said. “Our defensive effort improved in the second half. We were outsized, but we dialed in on each possession. Our guys focused on staying in front of their man and blocking out. In the third quarter we only gave up four points. And in the fourth, we held them scoreless.”
The B-team notched its first win of the year after two losses with a 35-25 decision. Quincy Gerbrandt led the way with eight points.
