United Way in danger of falling $30,000 short of goal

The United Way of McPherson County needs your help to reach its fund-raising goal for 2015.

United Way executive director Anne Kirchner says, at the current projections, they will be $29,000 short of the $225,000 goal.

“This is not the first time that that's happened,” Kirchner said. “It's a little frustrating for us, because we know the dollars are in McPherson. We just need to continually get the message out, not only about the importance of giving, but why you are giving to United Way.”

The McPherson County United Way services 15 agencies, with 18 programs within those agencies.

“Pretty powerful process,” Kirchner said. “I'm in my fourth year now with United Way. Love what I do. It's really engaged me in the community. It's helped me understand what our needs are and then giving the avenues to help. The thing is that just Anne can't do it. I am a one-person office.”

A 24-person Board of Directors does help out with the fund-raising efforts for the campaign and by helping to sift through the applications for the programs applying for funding through the United Way.

The current fund-raising campaign goes through Dec. 31. For more information, you can call 241-5152 or visit United Way McPherson dot org.
