McPherson’s seventh-grade A-boys made it three straight wins since a season-opening loss by routing Andover Central 53-29 here Thursday.
Max Alexander fired in 15 points and received nice support from Adam Elliott, who added 11.
“We shot the ball extremely well tonight,” MMS coach Tim Hein said. “Too bad we don't shoot like that all the time. We built a 30-12 halftime lead. I was more proud of how we handled the lead in the second half than I was of how we built our lead in the first half. Our team defense was very solid. And though we were outsized at every position, we did a good job of defending our assigned man and blocking out on the shot. They often were only able to get one shot up on us per possession.”
The B-team evened its record at 2-2 with a 30-25 win behind Zac Butler and Blade Anderson with eight points apiece.
“Butler, Anderson and (Brennan) Gipson all hit a big 3-point shot to overcome an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter for the comeback win,” Hein said.
MMS stays home on Monday to take on Derby North.
