ANDOVER — McPherson’s seventh-grade girls just keep rolling along unabated.
The Bullpup teams ran their records to 4-0 on Thursday with impressive road basketball victories over Andover Central.
The A-team exploded for 20 first-quarter points to key a 43-28 win. MMS also scored 15 points in the third quarter after managing just two in the second.
Kenzee Godwin and Belle Alexander scored 10 points apiece.
“We had balanced scoring from our starting five girls,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “I thought we shared the ball really well this game and improved on reading the defense and making the smart play. We maintained our composure and easily handled any pressure they tried to put on us.”
The B-team rode a 12-point effort by Shelby Yowell and 10 more by Alexa Bell to a 34-15 success. MMS led 24-8 at the half.
“Our aggressiveness on defense led to a lot of easy baskets in the first half,” MMS coach Grant Myers said. “The ladies did a really good job of running the offense the second half. The girls are getting better each time out.”
MMS plays Monday at Derby North.
MMS A (43) — Godwin 10, Alexander 10, Beam 9, Pyle 8, Kynaston 5, Berg 1.
MMS B (34) — Yowell 12, Bell 10, Berg 6, Allen 4, Myers 2.
