DERBY — McPherson’s seventh-grade girls continue to roll along without a blip.

The Bullpups scored a pair of road victories on Monday over Derby North to improve to 5-0.

The A-team overcame a 10-9 deficit for a 42-25 victory. After giving up 17 points in the first half, MMS clamped down in the second half.

“This was definitely the best team we have faced this season,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “After a slow start, we packed it in to a zone and Derby North struggled to shoot around us. We got many points off of fast breaks and putbacks. Our offensive patience continues to be an area of focus, but overall we shared the ball well.”

Kenzee Godwin led the way with 12 points, one more than Kassidy Beam.

The B-team had no problems at all, 37-5. Nine players scored, led by Shelby Yowell with 10 points.

“We played well both defensively and offensively,” MMS coach Grant Myers said. “I felt like we shared the ball on offense and communicated well on defense. Good overall effort.”

MMS has one more date before Christmas by hosting Hutchinson on Thursday.

MMS A (42) — Godwin 12, Beam 11, Alexander 3, Diggs 5, Kynaston 6, Pyle 2, Bell 2, Berg 1.

MMS B (37) — Yowell 10, Berg 9, Bell 6, Allen 2, Southern 2, Cavasos 2, Berlanga 2, Diggs 2, Byrd 2.
