DERBY — It was a peerless defensive effort Monday by the McPherson eighth-grade girls as they continue to march along unblemished.

The Bullpups’ A-team strafed Derby North 44-3 behind 13 points by Andrea Sweat and 12 by Lakyn Schieferekce.

It was more of the same in the B-game as McPherson was a 29-11 winner. Balance was the name of the game, as Rachel Carlson led the attack with seven points.

“Played very well and we did a much better job of sharing the ball, which was very nice to see,” MMS coach Jay Crawford said. “Our energy level was good and once again we guarded well. We will be home against Hutchinson on Thursday and from what we have heard from other teams they are good. So we must have two very good days of practice so we are ready to compete at a high level.”

MMS’ teams are 5-0.

MMS A (44) — Strathman 1, Mayfield 2, Johnson 4, Cooks 6, Pham 6, Schieferecke 12, Sweat 13.

MMS B (29) — Mayfield 4, Cecenas 2, Pham 2, Tice 4, Collins 4, Johnson 6, Carlson 7.
