McPherson College soccer players Tyler Minney and Belen Villegas were named second-team NAIA All-Region today.
"Belen and Tyler had outstanding years for us and I was so pleased to see them recognized for it,” Mac coach Doug Quint said. “Each of them performed at a high level and were consistent players for us every day.”
Villegas transferred to Mac this season and was an instant impact player for the Bulldogs as she made honorable mention All-KCAC. She opened the year up in the midfield and then transitioned to the right-back position. She scored two goals and also had an assist for five total points as she started all 18 games.
"Belen was a very successful and accomplished junior college transfer and brought a winning attitude to a team that had struggled in recent years,” Villegas said. “It was invaluable."
Minney was first-team All-KCAC as a freshman as he played the center-back spot on defense. Mac gave up just 11 goals during the KCAC portion of the season.
"Tyler stepped into an extremely important role for us this fall as a freshman and really rose to the challenge. I was pleased with his first season here as a Bulldog,” Quint said.
