HUTCHINSON — That first-game loss seems like only a distant memory for the McPherson seventh-grade boys.
The Bullpups made it five basketball wins in a row since then with a 43-37 victory on Thursday over Hutchinson.
Max Alexander fired in 13 points and Eli Pyle furnished 10.
“We faced a really tough Hutchinson team,” MMS coach Tim Hein said. “Their team defense was pretty strong. They forced us to be patient on the offensive end to get a good shot. We shot the ball well in the first half to open up a 28-20 lead. We cooled off in the second half. Our defense gave us the lead in the first quarter and we never gave it up. We had to knock down free throws to put them away.”
The B-team was a 26-21 winner to improve to 4-2. Zac Butler scored eight points, one more than Blade Anderson.
“(Logan) Ediger hit a big shot at the end to put the game away,” Hein said.
MMS is now off until Jan. 7 when it plays at Salina Lakewood.
