The McPherson High boys’ one-point loss on Friday to defending Class 5 Missouri state champion Blue Springs South did nothing to harm their state ranking.

MHS remained No. 3 behind Basehor-Linwood and Miege in Class 4A Division I in today’s KBCA poll.

Buhler is right behind the Bullpups at No. 4, with Andale No. 5. Both are future MHS opponents.

Hays, which like Buhler is the Bullpups’s sub-state, is No. 6, with the rest of the Top 10 including Spring Hill, Labette County, Chanute and Paola.

The Bullpup girls continue to chase Miege. Both teams had impressive wins in the Hy-Vee Shootout last weekend, with Miege holding the top spot and the Bullpups are No. 2. Andover Central, Kansas City Piper and Labette County round out the Top 5.

The second five includes Wellington, Chanute, Abilene, Paola and Spring Hill.

The Hesston boys are No. 6 this week in Class 3A, with Osage City holding on the top spot. The Swather girls dropped out of the Top 10 after suffering their second loss of the season.

The Moundridge girls are back in the rankings this week, checking in at No. 8 in Class 2A. Central Plains is No. 1.
