McPherson City Commissioners set the fees for 2016 during their final meeting of 2015 Monday morning.
City Administrator Nick Gregory said, really, the biggest changes came in the building permits.
“Last year, the fees were based upon valuation of the improvements being undertaken,” Gregory said. “In line with the bigger trend nationwide and across the state, we wanted to put those more in line based upon finished square footage for residential and footprint square footage for commercial.”
The City will now use the International Code Council's Building Valuation Data spreadsheet and formula, which is SF x Cost/SF (as per BVD) x .004.
Also of note are increases in fixed-rate inspection permits.
“The $25 for water heater replacement is up from id="mce_marker"5,” Gregory said. “Furnace/AC replacement is up from id="mce_marker"5 per unit to $35, water service line replacement up from id="mce_marker"5 to $25. Sewer line replacement/connection up from id="mce_marker"5 to $25.”
Residential re-roofing permits are now $75.
Another noticeable increase is the annual memberships at Turkey Creek Golf Course, which went up $75. A single members ship is now $850, while a family of four can expect to pay id="mce_marker",100.
The commission passed the various fees for 2016 unanimously.
