HILLSBORO — Central Christian College’s women had no answer for Sterling’s Hailey Davis on Friday as the Lady Tigers began the 2016 portion of their basketball schedule with a 97-77 loss in the opening day of the Tabor Classic.

Davis was 11 of 13 from the field and 10 of 12 from the line for 33 points, while she also dished off for six assists and came up with three steals.

Central, which fell to 4-9, was overwhelmed at the outset by giving up 30 first-quarter points and 57 in the first half overall as Sterling made 19 of 36 shots.

Heather Crittenden fired in 18 points to lead Central while Caitlyn Campa came off the bench to add 17.

“For as poor as we played in first half, we played exceptionally well for the last 14 minutes or so,” CCC coach Chris Honeck said. “We outscored Sterling by 15 over that stretch, and finally got into a rhythm at both ends of the court. We're still not rebounding well at all, but we did get much better in the second half. I'm hopeful we can put two good halves together against a very good Tabor team on their home court."

Central and Tabor match up today at 5:00.

CCC (77) — Crittenden 18, Brooks 5, Banks 9, Woods 2, Garza 6, Costello 8, Campa 17, Stackhouse 6, Lopez 6.

Sterling (97) — Greer 8, Brickell 2, Stagner 13, Davis 33, Prine 15, Ricke 2, Waters 9, Hays 1, Sokolski 3, Gasper 8, McNichols 3.
