SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — NCAA Division II school Drury was a rude host to Central Christian College’s men on Saturday, dealing the Tigers a 72-43 defeat.

The good news for Central was that it’s considered an exhibition game and doesn’t count on the regular-season record. The other good news was that Michael Gholston and Ernest Burton were both back for Central after being sidelined with injuries.

Alonzo Stafford led the Tigers with 12 points and Sam Clayborn added 10.

“Playing Drury, you know we will be tested physically and defensively,” Central coach Tony Romero said. “We failed the test. We really had too many bonehead mistakes today. We never put ourselves in a position to be successful. We were really careless with the ball and had a lot of breakdowns on the defensive side of the ball. We definitely don't want things to go the way it did today, but we can learn a lot from games like these."

Central plays for real on Tuesday when it travels to Salina to take on Kansas Wesleyan. The Coyotes are one of two teams to defeat the Tigers this season as CCC is 9-2.

Central (43) — Nwosuh 5, Gholston 7, Clayborn 10, Stafford 12, Warren 2, Jackson 7.

Drury (72) — Bundy 19, Foster 13, Gamiz 2, Palmer 15, Moore 15, Williams 2, Moore 1, Boswell 1, Cummings 4.
