After a false start in November, the McPherson City Commission voted to hire a new Community Development Director Monday morning.

Pam Cherry was announced as the replacement for Tom Stinemetze. Cherry is currently employed in Colorado Springs, with stints working for land development companies and the City of Monument, Colorado, as Planning and Zoning Administrator to her resume. She holds a masters in Public Administration from the University of Colorado.

Cherry was hired as a salaried employee starting at $26.67 an hour, with the city also approving a $1,500 moving expense for her to relocate to McPherson.

Cherry's official start date is intended to be Feb. 2.
