Not much progress was made this past week on Avenue A.

“However the side roads are open,” Jeff Woodward, McPherson City Public Works Director, said. “The barricades are staggered so that we can allow local traffic, residents can enter into their property again. We're going to work this week on getting things cleaned up and picked up and hopefully opened up. That may not happen this week, but we're going to try.”

As for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Road project, access to the debris site from Avenue A on Wastewater Treatment Plant Road has been opened.

“All properties with garages up against Wastewater Treatment Plant Road, they can enter their garages after being closed out for some time,” Woodward said. “This week, they're going to remove the blankets on the new section of concrete and hopefully get some sealing done towards mid-week, but we've got a short window of opportunity for sealing.”

Woodward said the weather forecast for the latter half of the week could force some delays.

The McPherson City Commission Monday also approved the payment of $20,100 to Union Pacific Railroad for the purchase of both permanent and temporary right of way easements for a pedestrian underpass on Avenue A.
