Easy wins for Swathers

HESSTON — The Hesston girls showed no signs of a layoff on Tuesday, exploding for 43 first-half points on their way to a 66-25 rout of Nickerson.

The Swathers floored the Panthers with their relentless defensive pressure in the first quarter for a 29-6 lead to put the game away early.

Cami Richardson scored 19 points in the first half and finished with 25 as she sat out the final quarter. Kailey Jo Ince was a nice complement with 13 and Katelyn Hageman just missed doubles with nine.

• HESSTON BOYS 72, NICKERSON 54 — The Swathers scored 20 points in both the first and second quarters and just missed 20 in the third with 19.

Hesston had nice balance with four players in double figures. Scott Duerksen and Zach Esau topped the chart with 13 points apiece, Jon Weber scored 11 and Cole McCreary tallied 10.
