McPherson High’s wrestling team returns to action tonight with a road dual against Buhler.

The varsity matches start at 6 p.m.

“It should be a good dual,” MHS coach Doug Kretzer said. “They will be tough at 106 and then really good through the middle weights. We hope to wrestle tough in these matches and make our run in the upper weights.  Like most duals, this one will come down to pin points.  I wouldn't be surprised if the dual is determined in the final match of the night. It will be a fun, entertaining match for sure.”

The Bullpups had a nice start to their season in December, going 7-3 in dual matches. They opened with a win over Andale, then swept a triangular with Chapman and Smoky Valley.

MHS went to Colby for a two-day dual tournament, going 4-3 against top competition. The Bullpups wrapped up the pre-Christmas schedule by competing in a tournament at Abilene with heavyweight Ty Goss bringing home first place in his division for the highlight.

It’s a busy week for the Bullpups, as they also compete on Saturday at Maize. Next home action is Jan. 14 against Winfield.
