McPherson’s seventh-grade girls overwhelmed Salina Lakewood in a pair of basketball games here Thursday.
The A-team sprinted to a 16-2 first-quarter lead and was up 27-5 before finishing off Lakewood, 53-20.
Grace Pyle’s 10 points led the way as nine players scored. MMS is now 7-0.
The B-team also dominated early, leading 21-2 at the half, as it also is now 7-0 after a 36-11 rout. Alexa Bell had the hot hand with 14 points.
“I thought both the A-team and B-team shared the ball well tonight,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “We were very unselfish and for the most part we were patient, ran the offense and looked for the open player. I was proud of our defensive effort, and we came out at the beginning of both halves aggressive and ready to play.”
MMS goes to Salina South on Monday.
