A grain elevator fire in Marion Thursday caused an evacuation for a few hours, though only one worker was treated for smoke inhalation.
Marion County authorities tell the Hutchinson News that there was no explosion related to the fire, but streets around the elevator were evacuated for about three hours just to be safe.
Marion City Administrator Roger Holter says the fire started when grain dust caught fire in the area where grain trucks unload their cargo.
A maintenance worker who was in the area dropped to the floor below the fire and was not burned. He was, however, treated for smoke inhalation.
A damage estimate for the grain elevator was not yet available.
